Why We Don't Analyze Pitching Mechanics for "Performance"
Lots of people have emailed me and asked why we don't break down pitchers' mechanics based on performance - like suggesting a better arm action or measuring the angle of hip/torso separation to produce more velocity. I don't analyze pitchers based on these sequences because nearly everyone that I post on the blog is an MLB-caliber talent and a finished product - meaning they'll nearly never change their mechanics in the first place, and that they are very likely getting close to the maximum out of their genetic potential for velocity.
When I analyze HS/College or raw minor league pitchers, my approach changes, since they have time (and incentive) to rework their mechanics.
So, I hope that clears things up!
