Meh

I don’t have the energy after two bit batting order posts this week. Don’t you work here?

I fully expect Buzz to be writing for BP in the next 12 months or so.

I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at Driveline Mechanics.

Thought snarky decon of bad sportswriting was your turf.

I was thinking about doing this one; I guess I will.

Its not

An incredibly horrible article.

I do not agree with his idea that it takes money to make it to the playoffs, not that signing big name free agents is the key to success.

But his analysis of the A’s pitching and his idea that the book and the approach made OBP too expensive for the A’s to afford is correct. I also like his short stab at the idea that numbers trump scouts, because its just not true.

He couldnt have written the article last year with the Rays in the World Series, or the Brewers in the playoffs, but its not as awful as you might make it out to be.

He's taking down Moneyball six years after the fact,

when the playoffs just happened to shake out for richer teams, acting like Michael Lewis had some sort of agenda and is a sabermetric shill, still acting like Beane is trying to buy OBP when the point was undervalued assets, no matter what they are, are what small-market teams should be buying.
