Yeah, he drew a line for the outside of the zone (apparently Umps are told to insta-toss anyone who does that).

Because Suzuki is such a common last name in Japan,

his was changed to Ichiro once it became apparent that he was awesome. It’s been like that ever since.

According to Wikipedia

it’s something he’s done since he played in Japan.

I know that the Japanese switch the order of given and family names, however.
